Being homeless away from your family is not easy. I’ve had quite a few incidents with Police. I’ve also been taken to court. When I first needed help I didn’t know where to turn. Many other associations wouldn't help. After contacting Alpha Supported housing things are finally looking up . Thanks to Alpha supported housing.
When I came to be released, I asked what I should do, but I wasn't given much help or advice apart from getting a ticket back to Birmingham. All I had to my name was 25 pounds after working in the prison. I was lucky to be put in contact with Alpha supported housing who arranged an accommodation for me.
was homeless in Birmingham when I was twenty-two. I was raised by my granny and I didn’t know my real mum or dad and I’ve got no other family. Being homeless myself gave me an insight and an empathy into what long term rough sleeping is really like. After being referred to Alpha supported housing I was been provided with what I can now call is some stability. I am very thankful to Alpha assisted housing.
After a divorce and losing my home, I went to the council and they put me in a hostel, but it was controlled by another man who was always under the influence of drugs. After two weeks I went to the council to ask for somewhere else but they said there was nothing available and if I didn’t go back I would be 'intentionally homeless'. I was then put in-touch with Alpha supported housing . They have well managed properties and provide support too. I now have a clean and stable place to stay and are re-building my future.
